MotoAmerica at Road America Wisconsin
When this Virginia Beach Sports Photographer got the invite to photograph at Road America in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin the MotoAmerica race I was super excited to go. I didn’t realize how big of an opportunity it was to go and photograph the race until I did a little research.
You may ask yourself what is MotoAmerica? MotoAmerica is a sanctioned premier Superbike Championship in the United States by the American Motorcyclist Association and FIM North America. MotoAmerica began in 1976 as the AMA Road Racing Championship, and Superbike racing in the U.S. has been full of talent. The MotoAmerica Superbike class features the best riders in the U.S. and from across the world too. These motorcycles are production-based bike with modifications to the engine and chassis to enhance the overall performance. These highly tuned bikes can reach top speeds of nearly 200 mph.
MotoAmerica at Road America in Wisconsin is exciting all in itself. The Road America track is 4.048 miles in length with 14 turns setting on 640-acres. These park like grounds offer amazing viewing and photography opportunities. Road America came about when the state legislature banned racing on public roads. In the early 1950’s sports car racers were being run on the streets in and around Elkhart Lake. Today Road America is home to many styles of racing and is apart of many of the different race series schedules.
Next month I am headed to Road Atlanta to photograph more of the MotoAmerica Championship series hope to see you there. July 29, 2020 -August 2, 2020
